It's VERY lovely being with Helen. It's lovely being on holiday. It's lovely playing tourist. It's lovely seeing relatives and putting faces to the names in Helen's life...but I keep thinking of home. I thought I'd put up some
Much love, Lily
The day began with Helen getting a ride down to where her car had been abandoned last night. Apparently the cooling system need to have the pressure relieved once water is added. I must say this is an alien concept to me. Let's hope it's done the trick.
There was not much happeneing today. Helen wanted to send a few items to Aust for Lefki and Sav, so I tagged along as boxes were collected from Festival Shoes, items packed and delivered to the lady who is giving Helen a bit of space in her container. We expressed Helen's thanks by staying to help pack and label a stack of boxes. The woman has a couple of charming little girls who helped me. One held the scissors and the other the tape. Between the three of us we got pretty efficent at boxing up stuff.
It was pretty quiet until Aunty Mary and Co came by. They were just passing through but Ian took advantage of the visit to download his images on to a USB stick. He is taking some very large photos, so the USB sticks were getting pretty full. I helped him burn some of the stick images on to CDs, to free up a bit of space.
In the middle of all this there was a call for Ian from the local police. They had found his wallet. Actually, he hadn't realised that he'd lost it. He'd given it to Di who had got 200 pounds out at the flexiteller and then walked away, leaving the wallet and all its contents there. Luckily for Ian, a judge was the next person to use the teller and he took the trouble to take it to the police station and see to it that they rang the Cyprus numbers in the wallet.
The only excursion we've had today was to the "mollo" (very like the St Kilda Esplanade. It'd been a hot, humid, dusty day, so the cooling evening breeze was very much welcome. Helen and I had corn on the cob with lots of butter and salt, from a street vendor. We'd hardly eaten throughout the day so it was really welcome.

It's saturday night here and much like saturday night anywhere in the world, the streets are full of young people out and about. We have just delivered Danae to her friend's house. The streets in that part of town (near the zoo) are full of little hangouts. The one way road system taxed us a little as we tried to find the flat. If that leg of the journey didn't raise the blood pressure, the next one certainly did, as we became enmeshed in the traffic spilling out of the soccer stadium. Helen said on a previous occasion, she had paused to let people cross the road, and a couple of kids ran over the top of her car.
Thank God we are home. All I want to do is have a shower and sleep.
I'll keep you posted. Love, Lily
