Day 6 in Kentish Town
The day began with a sleep in after the late night at st John's last night. Wl was up early as he had a bonding session with colleagues in Prague. He will be back on Sunday.
britt was off to pilates so after a bacon breakfast Johnny and I set off foe a walk with the girls. We walked to the border of Islingdon and Camden. The whole walk took about an hour and it was a great way to see some of the area that we had never travelled to before. we got back in time to skype Ginny.Everything seems well at home except there is no food at the millers (where Ginny is dogsitting) and there appears to be a gas leak at 298. Ginny contacted the gas people so we think she has everything in hand.
Once Britt was back we set off for Knightsbridge. I really wanted to see Harvey Nicols and Harrods. It was just interesting to see both how similar and how different things are in shops on opposite sides of the globe.
the best part by far was the3 food hall where we bought a haddock and potato scotch egg and some Scottish salmon rolls for a picnic. We looked high and low for a place to sit down but the gates of the nearby park were locked (residents only!) and there were unwelcoming signs warning us not to sit on peoples steps. In the end we found a spot at Harrods back door and it was perfect. It gave us a chance to see the emirati parading about with their butlers (two steps behind) as they popped into Harrods for a spot of shopping.
We saw all sorts of things for sale in harrods. They even have their own art gallery sales where for a cool half million pounds you can pick up a life sized snowman sculpture in jelly bean colours. If that doesn't take your fancy then there are sculptures by Dali, paintings by Chagall, Andy Warhol, or even watercolours by Bob Dylan. Or why not throw out a few lazy thousands to get a personalized bullion brick or have your name gold stamped on your Louis Vuitton luggage.
We were so tired by 5 so made the long , slow journey back to Kentish Town by bus. We bought salmon and asparagus for dinner tonight at home. chef Johnny will do the honours.
Catch you tommorow. Lily
